United States Munitions List
The US Munitions List (USML) is the part of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or ITAR that defines which defense articles and services are subject to licensing.
Examples of these types of exports include military equipment, military and space electronics, computers designed for military application, cryptographic techniques and encryption software.
The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls is the principal U.S. government agency which oversees ITAR licensing. Under ITAR, both exporters and manufacturers or providers of defense articles and/or services (whether exporting or not) are required to be registered with the U.S. government.
