Purpose and Activities: The primary purpose of the foundation is the funding and support of archaeological field research. The foundation does not fund research in Southwestern or other North American archaeological projects north of Mexico. As of 1997, the Foundation is concentrating on two grant programs, one oriented towards the archaeology of the Mediterranean world and the other the archaeology of the South American Andes.

Eligibility Requirements: Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. No grants to individuals, or to religious or political organizations.

Application Data: Applications and guidelines are available from the foundation. Applicants must also include a signed statement of purpose for funds sought.
