Purpose and Activities: The principal objectives of the Bureau of Indian Affairs are to encourage and assist Indian and Alaskan Native people to manage their own affairs under the trust relationship to the federal government; to facilitate full development of their human and natural resources; to mobilize all public and private aids to the advancement of Indian and Alaskan Native people for use by them; and to utilize the skill and capabilities of Indian and Alaskan Native people in the direction and management of programs for their benefit. The Bureau maintains a bidders list for contract services in the areas of history, education, science, archaeology and diagnostics.The Bureau also offers grants and fellowships for higher education which can be found on their website.
