Purpose and Activities: The Reclamation Act of 1902 (43 U.S.C. 371 et seq.) authorized the Secretary of the Interior to administer a reclamation program to provide the seventeen contiguous western states a secure, year-round water supply for irrigation. The bureau provides water for towns, farms and industries, and is responsible for the generation of hydroelectric power, river regulation and flood control, outdoor recreation opportunities and the enhancement and protection of fish and wildlife habitats. The bureau offices on occasion, announce contract opportunities for projects.
