In Support of Research

Research Development Services (RDS), a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, supports the research needs of University of New Mexico junior and established faculty and researchers. Additionally, RDS:

:: assists researchers by providing current and useful information and by identifying resources and potential funding sources.

:: aids in the development, preparation, and review of proposals.

:: provides guidance and assistance with their proposal development efforts.

:: manages and maintains the main campus research information services and supports electronic research administration at UNM.

:: conducts workshops, seminars, and training for faculty, staff and students in support of the University's research mission.

:: communicates the University's research activities and expertise through various channels and publications.

:: manages the University's system of identifying nominees and finalists for limited competitions/University nominated proposals.

:: plans, coordinates, and supports large and complex proposal efforts and advises multidisciplinary teams in their proposal development activities.

:: encourages and supports collaboration between researchers from different disciplines and fields. To assist multidisciplinary groups develop competitive proposals we: serve as liaison and facilitate meetings; investigate potential funding sources; assess project readiness and competitiveness vis a vis funding agency guidelines and mission; liaison with funding agencies; assist or participate in targeted proposal development efforts; review proposal drafts; assist in the formation of multi-institutional and inter-institutional partnerships; and organize and lead proposal reviews.
