President David Schmidly has committed the University of New Mexico (UNM) to create a comprehensive and unifying research ethics and integrity program positioned in the office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) that formalizes training and promotes awareness of ethical conduct in research at UNM. The Research Ethics and Integrity program (REIP) has been formed to promote research ethics and integrity in research for graduate students, post-docs, faculty, research staff, and others with the university involved in research and scholarly activities.

It is the intention of the REIP to promote awareness, discussion, transparency, training, and analysis of the ethical dimensions of research. The intended audience for courses, seminars, and workshops is University-wide. UNM promotes and conducts research responsibly.
