About OVPR IT

The Office of the Vice President for Research IT (OVPR IT) provides strategic, secure, and scalable information technology services to support the diverse research enterprise at the University of New Mexico. Our mission is to empower faculty, research centers, and administrative units with the tools, infrastructure, and expertise they need to conduct innovative and compliant research.

OVPR IT oversees centralized IT support for Category 3 research centers, coordinates access to research applications and secure data environments, ensures compliance with institutional and federal standards (including HIPAA, FERPA, and NIST), and partners with campus-wide stakeholders to align technology with research goals. Whether it’s managing research computing resources, improving data governance, or assisting with grant workflows, our team is committed to enabling research excellence through technology.

IT Onboarding for Research Centers

OVPR IT facilitates centralized onboarding of Category 3 research centers into UNM’s IT environment. This includes:

  • Email, VPN, and drive access provisioning
  • Secure network configuration and endpoint management
  • Support coordination with UNM IT and HSC IT as needed
  • Active Directory integration

OVPR IT streamlines access to key university systems, including:

  • InfoReady, iThenticate, iLab,  Streamlyne, and Banner integration
  • Qualtrics and REDCap access management
  • Coordination of NetID provisioning and role-based access controls
  • Guidance for special access cases (e.g., collaborators, temp staff)
